About UIYP

Founded in 2006 by James and Dr. Thwanda Davidson, Upstate Institute of Youth Programs, Inc. (UIYP) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Seneca, South Carolina. Recognizing the need for comprehensive support for youth in academics, athletics, arts, and community service, UIYP was established to bridge these gaps. Over the years, UIYP has assisted hundreds of students with academic readiness, college preparation, cultural events, athletic programs, and life skills coaching. Our goal is to inspire and support youth, empowering them to achieve their goals and emerge as future leaders.

Mission Statement: Our mission is to empower youth through a variety of opportunities in academics, athletics, the arts, enrichment events, and life skills. We inspire young people to become confident leaders, engaged citizens, and compassionate individuals who make meaningful, lasting contributions to their communities.

GPA Statistics:

93% of program participants for 2024-2025 academic year had a GPA of 2.5 or better

100% Matriculation rate for 2024-2025

98% of seniors served during 2024-2025 academic year enrolled in college for Fall 2025 semester.
