Academic Component Teachers
General Description and Duties: Teach program participants course content in core subjects (English, Math, Science or Foreign Language).
Education and Experience: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in subject area (English, Math, Science, Foreign Language, etc.), SC Teacher Certification and one year of teaching experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Experience and ability to demonstrate a 3.0 grade point average or higher in subject area; develop lesson plans and teach classes in their specific area; ability to effectively teach participants and track academic progress; document academic progress of participants; work effectively with students in grades 9-12; excellent organizational, verbal and communication skills.
Hourly Rate: $13.90

Academic Component Tutors
General Description and Duties: Tutor program participants in core subjects (English, Math, Science or Foreign Language). Assist students in developing a plan to complete other course assignments.
Education Requirement: Enrolled in a program of higher education required (Math, English, Science, Foreign Language majors) or an appropriate academic field. Bachelor’s degree in Education or an appropriate academic major is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Experience and ability to demonstrate a 3.0 grade point average or higher in subject area of tutoring competency; ability to effectively tutor participants and track academic progress; document all services provided to assigned participants; work effectively with students in grades 9-12; and excellent organizational, verbal and communication skills.
Hourly Rate: $10.00

Academic Van Drivers
General Description and Duties: Transport students to Saturday Component and/or other program related events.
Education and Experience: High school diploma and possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license and must be at least 21 years of age and good physical health. Experience transporting students in large SUVs/mini-vans preferred
Ability & Knowledge Required: Assist with the development and management of van routes and maintain a tracking and reporting system of van usage; safe driving record and a commitment to the safety of transporting of students; ability to work effectively with students in grades 9-12; excellent organizational, verbal and communication skills. All staff will be hired based upon his/her professional or personal experiences in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting project participants.
Hourly Rate: $8.50
